Here at Pasco’s we look after a large variety of sailing and motor vessels but in this blog we are focussing on RIBs.
Known either as RHIBs or RIBs– Rigid (Hulled) Inflatable Boats. These are light-weight, high performance powerboats constructed with a solid hull in composite or alloy with inflatable tubes or ‘sponsons’ around the edge.
Repairing, refitting, valeting and storing RIBs through the season is part of what we do here at Pasco’s.
Usual winter practise is that once a RIB comes out of the water we pressure wash the bottom to remove sea weed and barnacles. Most owners will then instruct us to organise DL Marine to service and winterise the engine. If required we can then offer a three stage valet & cleaning service.
1) Stain removal & hull cleaning.
2) Mould removal & locker/console cleaning.
3) Compound & polishing off all GRP surfaces.
Tubes and seats are chemically cleaned to remove stains and marks then a surface replenishment is applied to protect against further marking for the following season.
An inspection is carried out to assess if any damage has occurred to the tubing while it has been on the water. As a fabric the tubes may be prone to damage. Three types of material are used to create inflatable boats: PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride), Polyurethane and Hypalon. The correct material must be used for the repair. With our experience on site tube repairs can be conducted and tested. We are also able to offer a complete re-tubing for a vessel if that is required.
We can offer secure undercover storage, outdoor storage on the Bar here at Pasco’s or delivery to the owners premises.
